UEFA Champions League (22nd/23rd Oct 13)

So this week, it is the Men’s UCL that will satisfy our craving of midweek football. It is match day 3 of the group stages, with some mouthwatering ties including Arsenal v Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan v Barcelona and Celtic v Ajax. Thats just Tuesday (22nd Oct). The next day (Weds 23rd Oct), we have Real Madrid v Juventus, CSKA Moscow v Man City and Shakhtar Donetsk v Bayer Leverkusen.

There are of course other games available. List from link: http://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/season=2014/matches/index.html

But it should be a great week for some European football. The night slowly coming closer (Western Europe), cold weather creeping in and hopefully great atmospheres in all stadiums.

I am especially looking forward to Arsenal v Dortmund. Arsenal have been playing some excellent football and seem to be invigorated with Ramsey still in lethal form and Ozil providing a boost in the whole dressing room. Arsenal’s last game was a 4-1 victory over Norwich, which Jack Wilshere scored a beautiful team goal. Dortmund are chasing Bayern Munich in their respective league and come from an hard battle with Hannover over the weekend in the Bundesliga (1-0). Both teams should create a great spectacle to watch as both teams love to play great attacking football and hopefully the players will oblige and provide us with some great entertainment.

Also, Madrid v Juventus will be a great game, as these two giants have not met for a while in a competitive game since the 2008/09 UCL group stages. History favours the home side with Madrid winning 4 out of 6 home games against Juventus. However last time they met, Juventus won 2-1 in Turin and 2-0 in Madrid back in the 2008/09 campaign. This game should hopefully create a exciting tie and an open game where we will see chances; especially with the quality of players on display.

Enjoy the games!! 😉
